Rounding Retreat

Rounding Retreat

Topanga Canyon, California
November 14-17, 2024

Feeling a little undone from the to-do’s in life?

Even with an established meditation practice, it can feel like the busyness of life is taking us along for the ride.

Between family demands and work responsibilities, we are constantly pulled in infinite directions. Taking even 20 minutes for our second meditation can sometimes feel like a real luxury.

Imagine what it would be like to step away from your daily routine and completely immerse yourself in deep relaxation. For just a few days, your responsibilities are paused, your out-of-office email responder on, and your mind on “airplane mode.”

The only commitment for the weekend is to rest (and rest some more). You’ll dive into deep stillness inside meditation and feel that expansiveness of mind and relaxation of the body that would only be available in a retreat setting, away from your usual demands.

One of the most beautiful and deeply transformative experiences I’ve had. Susan & Patti created such a safe and supportive environment for us to go deep into meditation and relaxation, and to unwind all the stresses we accumulate in our day to day life.

The knowledge talks were fascinating and deeply illuminating as to the “why” behind our practice and how we can understand our role in life through the Vedic worldview.

I left retreat feeling like I had come home to myself and like I can handle anything that life throws my way. I have such deep gratitude for these incredible teachers and I can’t wait to attend more of their retreats in the future!

The type of reset you can’t get on a busy family vacation, an adrenalin-filled adventure, or a random day off work.

The type of rest that releases six months of stored stress in just a few short days.

The type of rest that will have you saying, “I feel several years younger – a shiny, brighter version of myself.”

When you come away on our Topanga Rounding Retreat, you’ll settle into an idyllic mountain oasis that feels worlds apart from your daily life. Between relaxing meditations and gentle yoga, you’ll enjoy farm-to-table vegetarian meals and the company of other like-minded meditators.

As you rest deeply, you’ll feel your stress and fatigue melt away, and a wave of serenity and peace wash over you.

You’ll leave the retreat with an unparalleled feeling of clarity and restfulness. With an expansive mind, stillness in thought, and an open heart, you’ll return home with the inspiration to welcome the next chapter of happiness and purpose in your life.

We’re so looking forward to supporting you in this transformational experience. Hope to see you in Topanga!

Love and Jai Guru Deva,
Susan Chen and Patti Quintero

Known as “industrial strength meditation,” Rounding is an enjoyable practice that prepares your mind and body for a profoundly deep meditation.

A ‘Round’ is a specific sequence of the following relaxing activities:

  • 10 minutes of gentle asanas (stretches that anyone can do)
  • 5 minutes of an easy breathing exercise
  • 20 minutes of Vedic Meditation
  • 10 minutes of lying down rest

On a Rounding Retreat, we perform multiple Vedic Rounding sequences in a day for transformational stress release.

Rounding on retreat provides the equivalent stress release of 6 months of twice-daily meditation.

One of the sweetest, most nourishing retreats I have ever experienced. The fun and love of this community – the recipes, playlists, photos, and support. Thank you!

Why Attend A Rounding Retreat?

“Close it down for a little and let it rest. That usually fixes most things for me.” – Lark, age 12

We couldn’t agree more, Lark. Within a few short days of unplugging on retreat, you’ll come away feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Gain new tools for approaching life with even more resilience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for change.

Each evening, we’ll come together for profound wisdom sessions to help you uncover blind spots and remove roadblocks to your progress.

You’ll finally give your body the rest it’s been asking for. As you rest deeply, fatigue and overwhelm naturally get released.

The layers of stress will melt away, and you’ll be greeted by a rested version of yourself, ready to take on life in an energetic and inspired way.

It’s common to meet lifelong friends on retreat weekends.

Retreat friends oftentimes feel like kindred spirits.

We celebrate our collective growth and reflect on the progress we have made on our individual paths.

Susan & Patti share the Vedic Meditation tradition with so much integrity and love. It was an honor to retreat with them. I’m not surprised to see so many incredible humans surround them and join in the experience as well.

The wisdom talks and communal meals were some of my favorite memories, along with hearing the constant, gentle reminder that bliss is my baseline.

With so much rest and de-stressing, I was actually starting to feel it! I think we all were. There was one point we couldn’t stop giggling.

Bliss was overflowing ✨ Jai Guru Deva.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend a Rounding retreat?

This retreat is open to all graduates of an in-person Vedic Meditation course.

If I don’t yet practice Vedic Meditation, can I still register?

You may register for the Rounding retreat now and make arrangements to learn Vedic Meditation with us on retreat for an additional $600.

I haven’t shared a room with someone on a retreat before. What’s that like?

If you’re used to having your own room, we understand it you might be curious about sharing a room on retreat.

Rest assured, room pairings are taken very seriously as we plan your experience on retreat. We take great care in understanding your sleeping patterns and preferences, and use all the information you provide to pair you up with the most compatible roommate for the retreat.

We should also mention that there is very little time spent in the rooms! Between Rounding, meals, wisdom sessions, and relaxation time on the expansive property, meditators find that they don’t spend much time in their rooms, except for sleeping at night.

There are plenty of tucked away, private nook and crannies all around the main house and property at large for you to luxuriate in, should you feel the need for more privacy.

We find that meditators who embrace adaptability and openness walk away with a lifelong friend in their roommate at the end of retreats.

Where is Topanga Canyon? How do I get there?

Topanga Canyon is a town located in the Santa Monica Mountains, located about 40 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

If you’re local, we recommend driving or carpooling with others from your area. If you coming in from out of town, we suggest flying into LAX and hiring a Lyft or Uber to take you to the property.

We will send you the exact address of our Topanga retreat home after you complete your registration.

What happens if I release stress physically or emotionally on my Rounding retreat?

Stress release is a normal and natural process of participating in a residential Rounding Retreat.

While most experiences on retreat are blissful and joyous, one may experience some temporary fatigue or emotional release as layers of stress are released from the physiology.

We will be personally overseeing the Vedic rounding experiences of all meditators on retreat and will gently guide you through the process of release.
